Wike roars over assassination attempt on Ortom, threatens FG, Nigeria’s existence
Rivers State-born Mr Project, Governor Nyesom Wike threatens Federal government over an ugly experience by Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom on Saturday 20, 2021.
The governor in a statement retrieved by #SCANNEWS24 said there will no longer be a country to be called Nigeria if his Benue State counterpart, Ortom is assassinated.
The former chieftain of the All Progressive Congress was on Saturday escaped near assassination reportedly carried out by armed Fulani Herdsmen at a riverbank in Tyo Mu along Markurdi-Gboko highway.
Ortom, who was returning from his farm, according to reports, ran over a kilometer on foot after the gun runners opened fire on his convey.
In his reaction, Wike stated that Mohammadu Buhari’s led government will be held responsible if Ortom is killed.
Speaking through Kelvin Ebiri, his Special Assistant on Media, Wike said “If you kill Ortom, then be prepared to bury Nigeria. If anything happens to Governor Ortom, the Federal Government will be held responsible and they should be prepared that there will be no more Nigeria.
He further described the increasing trend where the life of incumbent governors are brazenly endangered and threatened as disturbing.
However, the President had given an executive order to shoot at sight any one parading rifles within rural areas mainly forests.
