Deji Adeyanju has warned Nigerians to desist from using divide and rule strategy against other regions in Nigeria, adding that is an unfair game to instigate such strategy against 2023 presidential elections.

Deji made the statement while reacting to false information nursed and circulated by Muslim community that Rivers state government demolished a Mosque in Port-Harcourt, around Trans-Amadi Layout.

This was regard to a statement made earlier by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike refute that no physical building was demolished, challenged the Muslim leaders to come forward with evidence.

The Muslim community had accused Rivers state government of demolishing a mosque around Trans-Amadi layout Port-Hacourt.

While reacting to the governor’s statement, Deji cautioned Nigerians not to allow centrifugal forces to push them towards breaking the cord that holds Nigeria, adding that Nigeria is an indivisible country under God.

He further called on those nursing the rumours through his rejoinder statement tittled ” RE: Wike’s Demolition of a Mosque in Rivers State” to stop and tow the part of patriotism.

In his words: “We woke up today to a trending video and several online pictures suggesting that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike demolished a mosque in the state. Several sources have confirmed this to be false as worshippers have come out to debunk the news of their worship center being demolished by the state government. I have been reliably told that those pushing this narrative were earlier today mobilized by politicians to start hate speech campaign ahead of the 2023 presidential elections.

“Though an unfair game, hate speech is what those behind this are known for and it’s a strategy that always work for them but the question we must ask, however, is at what price? Do these people not know the consequences of peddling such falsehood in the name of politics? Do they not know that such falsehood in the name of politics could lead to the death of innocent Christians or burning of churches up North?

“Those pushing this dangerous narrative are already in the know about governor Wike’s alleged Presidential or Vice Presidential ambition and anything to taint his person as bigot not minding the consequences of this action is fine with these agents of destabilization.

“As a patriot who believes in the unity of our country and the strength that lies in our diversity, I humbly implore those fanning the embers of war and disunity to please put Nigeria first ahead of their individual ambition.

“History is not for the weakness of the brain but a guide to the future. We have once witnessed a scenario in the country where a Cartoon drawn far away in Denmark had led to an uproar in the North where lives were lost and properties destroyed.

“Nigeria today is on the precipice, we must not allow these centrifugal forces whose only strategy to win power is through divide and rule to break the chord that binds us together as one indivisible people under God.

“This democracy was fought for with blood by patriots of different religion, tribe and ethnicity. Posterity will not be kind to us if we sit and allow the country to be plunged into another civil war.

“Finally, life is sacred. We have a patriotic responsibility to protect one another, defend the flag, promote peace and unity among ourselves.

He therefore thanked Nigerians.
