About 17 fellows of the regional vigilante in the Dukku community of Rijau Local Government area of Niger State were reportedly raided and slain by rampaging armed bandits.
Scannews24 learned that the area vigilante killed three of the raiders.
Based on a report by Daily Post, the Dukku community had been devastated by the rise of assaults by bandits and due to this fact, mobilised to launch a strike on the bandits sleeping within the bushes in the neighborhood.
But, the intended attack was said to have leaked, leading to the trap by the desperados and murder of the seventeen local security personnel, while the vigilante avenged leaving three bandits dead.
Alhaji Bawa Bello, the Council Chairman of Rijau, who Announced the report to Newsmen on the telephone, said the bandits slew some vigilante members, the local safety males killed some bandits in retrieval.
He said, “Yes it happened, we killed some of the bandits and the bandits killed some of our men.
“I’ve submitted a written report to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and for more details contact him, he’s our boss he should give you the details.” the Chairman noted.
Attempts to get through the Commissioner for Local Government Alhaji Abdulmalik Sarkindaji on the incident were abortive.
Similarly, efforts to contact the state Police command were not successful as the Public Relations Officer, PRO, ASP Wasiu Abiodun did not pick his calls as of the time of submitting the report.SOURCE: Scannews24.com
