Reno Omokri has called on Nigeria’s government to borrow a leaf from Biafrans to expand technological know-how in the fight against terrorism.

Omokri’s advice comes a few days after the minister of information, Lai Mohammed attributed the continued killing of innocent people in Nigeria to lack of opportunity to purchase necessary weapons against insecurity.

According to a report by Arise News, the Minister asserted on Monday, in Makurdi, the Benue state capital, and pointing out that Boko Haram activities may go on unchallenged as the country has been denied access to buy the required weapons.

Mohammed said the beheading of the over 100 rice farmers as ‘unfortunate’ but “Nigerians will remain at the mercy of terrorists”, noting that to decimate the rampaging terrorists, Nigeria needs more assistance from global partners as well as purchasing adequate weapons to combat them.

Reacting on Wednesday via social tweets, the former media aide challenged President Mohammadu Buhari’s leadership to channel attention in learning from Biafrans.

Clarifying the request, Pastor Omokri acknowledged that during the civil war, Biafra built their weapons both armoured vehicles, popular Ogbunaigwe and also refined petrol; many years down the line Nigeria could not do any of these.

“50 years after defeating Biafra, Nigeria can’t make weapons or refine fuel. Why didn’t we learn from the Biafrans?”

Recall, the Federal government has sealed a Memorandum of Understanding with Niger to enable both countries to deepen business.

The MoU will allow Nigeria to import fuel despite internal refineries which could help solve issues of unemployment.

However, Mele Kyari has given reason the importation was necessary, pegged at pipeline vandalism, security threats.
