Seven police officers killed as gunmen attack Rivers police stations
Yet to be ascertained gunmen said to have attacked Police facilities in Rivers State on Friday night killing no fewer than seven police officers.
The attackers hit a police station in the Rumuji area of the East-West Road in the state.
According to a gathered report by #Scannews24, a Rumuji police station in Emuoha Local Government Area was said to have been affected and two policemen lost lives while some vehicles were burned.
Similarly, the rampaging gunmen additionally overrun a police checkpoint at Ogbakiri junction in the Emuoha LGA and two cops were shot dead, one vehicle set ablaze.
In what appears to be a night for all police in the state, a safety checkpoint popularly called C-4-i within the East-West Road was also touched, three operatives were reportedly killed.
Nnamdi Omoni, the Spokesman for the State Police Command, acknowledged the attacks but noted he would be giving full story on the attacks after visiting affected areas.
Based on PUNCH, the State Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday, said to be leading a team to the place when their correspondent spoke with him early on Saturday.
“Yes, that is what we heard. I am on my way to the place. I want to confirm it myself,” the CP replied.
