Residents, soldiers flee as ISWAP takes over Rann in Borno
THE rampaging terrorist sect, Islamic State of West African Province, ISWAP said to have overtaken military personnel overseeing operation within Borno State Capital.
According to the gathered report the fighters on Monday about 350km from Maiduguri, Rann, the headquarters of Kala-Balge the escaping dwellers noted that the terrorists raided permitted only civilians and held hostage humanitarian workers in the area.
#Scannews24 learned the armed forces shot sporadically when accessed into the town, said to give further updates on casualties.
A number of whisked humanitarian workers were taken hostage after taking control of the Local government. Fleeing workers walked into the bush heading towards the Cameroon border and many others who survived the attack are hibernating outside the community struggling to avoid the raiders.
Army vehicles at the military base and others were said to have been razed. The army men abandoned the base regarding upper fire shots of the militants.
An aid worker attached with one of the NGO stated: ” For now, we do not know what is going on in Rann as we can find an escape route along with some security operatives,”
