Police begin investigation into INEC’s Card Reader fire razefire out
The police in Ondo State has initiated an inquiry into the fire occurrence, which happened at the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Akure.
The fire transpired on Thursday evening and razed no fewer than 5000 Smart Card Readers saved in a container inside INEC workplace.
Speaking during his visit to the commission’s office on Friday to evaluate the impact of the fire, CP Bolaji Salami, stated that the police would bring anybody behind the fire to book.
He mentioned, “Though, this is regrettable for happening close to the date of the governorship election in the state, we want to promise all law-abiding citizens of the state not to entertain any fear as we’ve begun our investigation.
“Our command is fully ready to give maximum police safety before, during and even after the election.”
