In what appears to be ‘taking pills after death’, the Enugu State Government has directed local government chairmen in the state to beef up security against parading armed killer Herdsmen.

While condemning the killing of a pregnant woman, who was allegedly killed by suspected Fulani Herdsmen in a farmland at Nchatancha community in Emene, Enugu East Local Government Area, the governor called the chairmen to mount security checkpoints.

This was contained in statement by Prof. Simon Ortuanya, the Secretary to the State Government.

Ugwuanyi, on Thursday, condoled with the family of the deceased and charged the security agencies to commence a full scale investigation into the ugly incident with a view to apprehending and prosecuting the culprits.

In bid to help security operation in the localities, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi further directed Chairmen of the 17 Local Government Areas, who are yet to mount Vigilante security checkpoints in their respective areas to do so within two weeks, Daily Post reports.

While commanding residents of the state for their cooperation and support, Ugwuanyi reassured them that “we are winning the war against criminality”.

We earlier bring to you report that suspected Fulani herdsmen struck again in Enugu killing a woman identified as Mrs. Pat Ngwu.

Ngwu, according to source, was abducted from her farmland in Nchatancha community, Emene, raped and murdered.

Her corpse was later found in a nearby river.
