Panic as Angry agitators attack soldiers, seize rifle

A gathered report notes that some angry group under the aegis of Yoruba Nation agitators have attacked a team of soldiers within the Oju-Ore axis of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Ogun State.

The event which occurred on Thursday pointedly said the agitators, while on a rally, decided to descend on a vehicle conveying some men of the Nigerian Army.

Mr. Mayowa Aina, a resident of the neighborhood disclosed that the army was mobilised to arrest the situation.

In his words: “Some Yoruba nation agitators holding a rally around Oju Ore attacked some military men in their vehicle” he explained adding “in the process, they disarmed a soldier and carted away his rifle.”

A Twitter client identified as Uncle Deji seek for immediate, said: “SouthWest Govs should be deeply concerned about the incident of yesterday at Oju Ore roundabout, along Sango-Ota-Idiroko road. Yoruba Nation Agitators on rally mobbed a soldier. SW region should remain peaceful.”

Dwellers in the area said the heavily armed military men later caused panic among the people, with many abandoning their houses.

Confirming the incident, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, told newsmen that the command is currently investigating the matter.

He further revealed that there was no casualty recorded in the confrontation,  noting that the police had restored calm to the area.

“We are on the matter. We heard that they (Yoruba Nation agitators) attacked some soldiers in the Ota area.

“So we are working in collaboration with the Nigerian Army to get to the root of that matter. We have not made any aarrests but we are on it. There is no casualty, the police spokesperson said.
