Nnamdi Kanu’s wife, Uchechi reacts to husband’s life
The wife of the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Uchechi Okwu-Kanu, has reacted to the arrest and detention of her husband, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the government of Nigeria.
You would remember the IPOB leader, Kanu was rearrested by Nigeria security and intelligence agencies in partnership with yet to be named countries to continue trial put on hold since 2017.
Kanu is presently detained under the watch of the Department of State Service (DSD) awaiting his court trial come July 26.
In an interaction with UK based Newspaper, The Sunday Times, Kanu’s wife, Uchechi stated that she was devastated when the news of her husband’s arrest and repatriation was announced.
She told the media company that her last contact with the husband was late June and feared he was tortured and beaten.
She condemned the action by the governments involved described it as a crime.
“It’s hard for me to speak. I’m extremely devastated. He has been beaten and tortured and I am scared for his life.
“I was always worried about Nnamdi. When you’re asking for freedom from dictatorship, you are a target. But when I saw what happened in Belarus and how no one did anything, I knew nowhere was safe.
“The Nigerian government carrying out this rendition is a crime. We’re not even talking about independence”, She was quoted as saying.
