The former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has said that all Nigeria needed to do now was to seek men of vision and proven track record to wake her from stupor. Obi spoke yesterday at the 2018 Making Nigeria Great conference organised by the Summit Bible Church in Abuja.

Obi who looked at the trajectory of the development of Nigeria from 1980 till now bemoaned Nigeria’s backwardness. Comparing it to a car with knocked engine, he insisted the engine must be fixed first even before the question of who drives it should arise.

“To make Nigeria great is a welcome development which Nigerians are called to work towards. However, we must at all times recognise where we are and what should be done. In our own case, we have lost it completely as a country. The idea of greatness is good, but we must start from doing basic things, Obi said.

Other speakers at the event were Mr. Osita Chidoka and Leke Alder. Both of them submitted that Nigeria needed men of vision to move her on.

In his earlier remarks, the Convener of event, Pastor Andy Osakwe, said one of the aims of the event is to make a statement that the Church, besides spiritual welfare, should also contribute to seeking solutions to the many problems plaguing the country.
