President Mohammadu Buhari’s led administration is said to have taken a peace process move with the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, as widely called, has been under DSS detention facility over three months after Nigeria’s security department in alliance with Kenyan authorities ‘orchestrated extraordinary rendition’.

Kanu has not been sighted in any public space and not brought to court despite recorded seatings at the Abuja High Court.

Insinuation has emerged noting the IPOB leader was presented a document for signature from the federal government which he declined.

In a tweet yesterday, IPOB lawyer, Professor Aloy Ejimakor called on the government to soften the process permitting his release from detention before issuing papers for negotiation.

Partly in his words: “When a man is in detention & you wish to negotiate with him, the first step you take is to stop resisting every effort being made to release him from detention.

He further cited procedures taken by then governments when enabling peace pacts with freedom fighters. Condemned the attitude of having Kanu in pains before negotiation, described it as ‘unnatural.

He continued: “That’s how they negotiated with Mandela, Gandhi & Martin Luther King. It’s unnatural to negotiate with a man in chains.

However, IPOB leadership has vowed to embark on a month sit at-home if DSS fails to convey Kanu to court.
