Local Government Technician in just concluded national elections, Ugoo Ogbu, has reacted to statement by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Mamood Yakubu.
The Facebook client, Ugoo Ogbu, on Thursday evening took to his account to explain how they worked during the 2019 general elections.
The commission, through its lead counsel, Yunus Usman (SAN), earlier said the results of the poll were never transmitted or collated electronically.
It added that it kept no such server where such electronically transmitted results could have been obtained.
Part of his statements reads: “That the petitioners are claiming that votes recorded at the various polling units were electronically transmitted, and stored in the 1st respondent’s (INEC’s) server.
“That the lawful and recognised computation of results is manually done using Electoral Form EC8 series and not the table pleaded by the petitioners given that the said table is not the result collated and declared by the 1st respondent.
“That I know that mode of transmitting/collating election results is manual, using Forms EC8As, EC8Bs, EC8Cs and EC8Ds and not electronically done.
“That I know that the Manual Technologies 2019 and demonstration videos referred to in paragraph 27 are internal training materials.”
The reaction by Ugoo as culled from Channels Facebook comments, reads:
“Hello people of Nigeria..
“I was trained as a RATECH personnel in the last concluded election.
The function of the RATECH is to provide technical support to the POs and APOs in the polling units, that’s their major role.
“Now, the RATECH officer is answerable to the LGTECH (local govt technician) His responsibility is to handle all the RATECHs in the local govt while the RATECHs handles the POs in the ward level.
“The RATECH is given an iPAD which receives information from the SCR (smart card reader) that the PO handles, here information like the winners, losers, number of voters, accredited voters, are sent to the RATECH officer via online to the iPad given to him or her by the INEC.
“So, this whole issues of INEC denying the fact that there’s no online transmission seems alien to me.
