IMO ATTACKS: We’ve killed commander of insurgents, police sources claim

The Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force together with the Nigerian Military and DSS in said they stormed a hideout of insurgents said to be IPOB affiliated militias, in a joint operation, within the early hours of Saturday 24th April 2021 at womama Village Oru East LGA of Imo State.

The Insurgents are liable for the assault on both the Nigerian Correctional Service and Police facilities on the fifth of April, 2021. They’ve additionally spearheaded series of calculated, violent attacks on safety operatives and formations within the southeast and south-south regions.

According to reports the Forces finally offset the general commander of the insurgents in the Southeast popularly generally known as Ikonso Commander (6) other armed combatants of the rebel group. Commander Ikonso is named the Vice President-designate in addition to the coordinator of all of the militia operations of the group.

He was the coordinator and Mastermind of the attacks on the Imo Police Headquarters and a number of other assaults on safety and army personnel and facilities, Vanguard reports

The operation is a part of a planned feat by the Police and different safety forces to repress the actions of insurgents in Imo State and different States of the South East and South-South area of the nation.

After the fierce gun battle, the safety group recovered the remains of Ikonso Commander and the six of his warriors. Some subtle weapons together with 6 AK47 rifles, tons of ammunition of various caliber, and many charms together with bullet Proof charms had been recovered from the insurgents.

At the time of submitting this report, three policemen and one military officer are receiving treatment having sustained severe bullet injuries during the exchange of gunfire with the insurgents.
