Gov Hope Uzodinma loses Two security operatives to gunmen, country home razed (Video)
The insecurity situation in Imo State takes another turn on Saturday, 24 April following the attack on Governor Hope Uzodinma’s home by yet to be ascertained, gunmen.
SCANNEWS24 gathered two security operatives at the governor’s residence were confirmed dead after the gunmen overran the country home early Saturday in Omuma in Oru East Local Government Area.
Mr. Declan Emelumba, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, confirmed that at least two vehicles parked in the compound and part of the building were burnt.
According to him: “It is true but the information is not still clear. It is not true that several security men lost their lives.
“About two security men on duty at the governor’s house were killed. NSCDC personnel was among the security men who lost their lives during the attack.”
An eyewitness close to the government revealed that firefighters have engaged the incident from escalating to nearby buildings.
This coming barely a week series of attacks were reported on major security facilities in the region mainly Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia states respectively.
Weeks ago, the state governor, exonerated members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) of spearheading attacks attack on Correctional Facility.
Hope accused some politicians in the state of hiring thugs from outside to inflict mayhem on the state.
