Based on report gathered by SCANNEWS24, 4 Ph.D. possessors, 200 master’s degree holders Said to had applied for the Nigerian Government’s untrained job proposal targeting 774,000 Nigerians under, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN), the Special Public Works programme overseen by the Minister of State for Employment, Labour and Productivity.
The programme, which intends to absorb 774,000 Nigerians, 1,000 individuals from every of the 774 local government is expected to be unskilled staff will earn N20, 000 each on a month-to-month basis for 3 months.
However, during an interview with The PUNCH’s correspondent, Senator Gbenga Obadara, the Ogun State Chairman of Special Public Works, started that 4 doctoral and 200 Master’s degree holders were amongst 20,000 candidates within the state.
While responding to question from one of the interviewers, Senator Obadara said; “Four Ph.D. and 200 master’s degree holders have applied.”
“Poverty is ravaging. Unemployment is extremely on the high rise. People with master’s degrees and even Ph.D. degrees are applying for 20,000 jobs. That is the problem. It cannot cover everybody. We cannot blame the Federal Government.” he added.
He added the committee began dispersion of forms four weeks ago and that nearly 20,000 people from 20 local government areas had collected the forms.
