Five men of the Nigerian army on Tuesday reportedly lost their lives in a ghastly road accident while rushing to engage volunteered men of the Eastern Security Network, ESN.

According to reports, the mishap also left other troops critically injured after a MRAP (mine-resistant, ambush-protected vehicle) involved in the accident in Anambra State.

Thee security men who were said to be deployed from the 302 Artillery Regiment, General Support, Onitsha have been on their approaching Ihiala to meet with other colleagues at a military checkpoint over an emergency information that (ESN) were to raid the area.

Recall the leader of IPOB Nnamdi Kanu, had in December last two years launched ESN to guard the people of the South-East region mainly farmland against terrorists and bandits believed to trooping in from the North.

In view to replicate similar security structure as done by South-West governors to curb insecurity in their region, Kanu noted: “The sole aim and objective of this newly formed security outfit known as Eastern Security Network are to halt every criminal activity and the terrorist attack on Biafraland,”

He continued: “This outfit, which is a vigilante group just like the Amotekun within the South-West and the Miyetti Allah safety outfit, will ensure the safety of our forests and farmland, which terrorists have converted into slaughter grounds and raping fields.”
