A certain trending video footage has set media space blazing following a striking revelation made against northern state governors which appears to have jeopardizes the security structure of Nigeria.

The Bauchi State Governor, Bala A. Mohammed has made a disturbing allegation that Nigerian Governors from Northern extraction are receiving Fulani illegal immigrants from other African countries.

The governor who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, said the questionable Fulanis are issued citizenship upon arrival to Nigeria.

He made the assertions during an interactive programme with Channels Television’s Sunrise on ‘Economy of State’ focused on Bauchi.

While responding to the question “why should the Federal government use resources for this country to accommodate Fulani Herdsmen who are not from this country.

Bala, who appeared uncomfortable with the question raised, rhetorically queried, why would the government at the center not accommodate the immigrants when they are already accommodated in various states within the North.

He pointed out that, presently, it is difficult to single out Fulani man or woman that is not from Nigeria, adding that their citizenship and identity are already Nigerian.

Governor Bala maintained that even though the relations are scattered all over Africa and the world, they are presumably seen as Nigerians.

This is coming at a time when the Northern states are ravaged by increased security challenges leading to loss of lives and destruction of properties daily.

Coincidentally, Nigerians may be left with no doubt in attributing a number of the recorded menace by bandits, frequent kidnapping, destruction of farmlands, and killing of farmers by Herders and similar cases to these government-secured and illegally empowered immigrants.
