Edo Governor, Obaseki emerges PDP gubernatorial candidate

The embattled Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki on Thursday was declared the winner of the primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Obaseki will now defend the party’s flag as a nominee for the September’s governorship election with the highest votings of 1,952 out of whole accredited ballots of 2024. 72 votes were, nevertheless, invalid.
Obaseki, Why acknowledging his victory, stated he wouldn’t disappoint the people of the state for the confidence rested on him.
He said he believed that by the grace of God, he might be governor of Edo State for one more 4 years.
”Today makes a defining moment for our dear state. With today’s election result, it’s clear that there isn’t any mountain. I thank my family for their encouragement.
”I salute all our party members for standing tall when it became necessary to do so.
”I almost quit running for a second tenure all because of overbearing god-father, but the PDP cover provided us with the umbrella when it was heavily raining. Kenneth Imasuagbon and others made this possible.
Earlier, chairman of the PDP committee in Edo Guber primary election, Gov Balla Muhammed of Bauchi state while conveying his opening speech hailed other contenders who out of the general interest of the party stepped down for the incumbent.
