Chidinma, socialite who shared petrol souvenir jailed two years
A Lagos State Special Offences (Cellular) Court sitting at Oshodi reported to had handed out a two years sentenced to a socialite, Chidinma Ogbulu, for distributing petrol as a souvenir during a celebration.
Mr. Kehinde Ogundare of Lagos State Magistrate court convicted and jailed the socialite following an evidence by prosecution and her guilty plea.
The Chief Magistrate decides that prosecution proved its case towards the socialite beyond any reasonable doubt, in response to an announcement from Lagos State Ministry of Justice on Friday.
The accused was earlier arraigned on March 14 for gifting petrol as souvenir throughout her installation occasion on March 5 at Havillah Event Centre in Lagos State.
Ogbulu pleaded not responsible then, however modified her plea to responsible on Thursday when the case came up for hearing.
The Judge sentenced the socialite to 3 months’ imprisonment or N15, 000 fine on count one of the three-count charge, and a year imprisonment or N500,000 fine on the second count.
The chief magistrate as well sentenced the socialite to at least one year imprisonment or N500,000 fine on the third count.
In accordance with Lagos State Authorities, the celebrant violated Section 251(1), 168 (1), 244 of the Criminal Law of the state, 2015, and Section 195 (2)(b) of the Environmental Management Protection Law of the state, 2017.
Chidinma Ogbulu, is expected to have paid the fine and been let out, NAN reports.
