Buhari safe as Gunmen storm Sokoto, kill policemen, traders during visit
President Mohammadu Buhari has no sign of an attack attempt regarding the report of Gunmen raiding Yarbulutu village market in Sokoto earlier on Monday, killing three police officers and three traders.
The tragic event was recorded while Buhari was on a working visit to the state to attend a military event.
The President with the defence minister, Salihi Magashi graced the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference held at the International Conference Centre, Kasarawa, in Sokoto.
Based on a witness’s account, the gunmen arrived at the village riding motorbikes and immediately opened gunfire on innocent traders in the market.
The security personnel at a close checkpoint in the area, upon receiving a distress call, swiftly swung into action to repel the attacks but reportedly were overpowered.
The attackers were said to have killed three officers and set their vehicles ablaze.
Sanusi Abubakar, the Sokoto police spokesperson confirmed the incident, noting the command is on the verge of apprehending the heavily armed shooters.
