Unknown gunmen on Sunday reputedly attacked Ikirike Police Station of Enugu Command.
According to reports, the hoodlums arrived to the station with the pretence that they came to report distress and immediately launched attack on the station.
Number of casualty is yet to be ascertained as of the time the report was filed, PUNCH reports.
It was also not clear if the station’s armory was carted away with the fleeing unknown gunmen.
The report has been confirmed to PUNCH on telephone conversation by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu.
Ebere,who could not give details of the attack, said that the hoodlums came to the station, pretending to be in distress and then “launched the attack.”
On whether there was fatality, Amaraizu said, “No policeman was killed.”
He said the Command has launched a manhunt for the hoodlums.
