BREAKING: Court Sacks Dino Melaye As Senator, Orders Fresh Election
Kogi west senatorial district office declared empty by the Kogi State National Assembly/State Assembly Elections petitions tribunal.
The tribunal declares the current representative, Dino Melaye, who was declared winner in the 2019 General Election.
The judgement, which was delivered on Friday by a three-man panel led by Justice A. O. Chijioke, unanimous judgment upheld Senator Smart Adeyemi’s ground and ordered for fresh election in the senatorial district.
Senator Melaye, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was declared a winner in the February 2019 National Assembly election but his immediate challenger of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Smart Adeyemi, approached the tribunal.
The APC Candidate, Adeyemi challenged INEC’s declaration, over voting, citing irregularities, and non-compliance with the electoral acts.
