Soldiers retreated from interfering in a protest by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Aba, Abia State on Monday.
In a video obtained by SCANNEWS24 shows some members of IPOB in a peaceful walk on the street on Aba.
According to a source close to the scene, the aggrieved protesters hit the street over the illegal detention of members of the group in Abia Maximum prison and across the country.
In the three minutes video, the soldiers approached the protesters and had an exchange of words for some minutes and were later seen retreating.
This gave room for jubilation including passers-by who were keenly observing what ought to be the turnout.
The federal government had yesterday accused Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s led leadership of IPOB of hiding under ‘Protection of Christians’ to wage war against Nigeria.
This was disclosed in a statement by President Mohammadu Buhari’s Spokesman, Garba Shehu on Sunday evening said the group are spending over 80,000 dollars monthly to lobby the international community, including the UK, US, and EU.
He stressed that Kanu’s request is guise to facilitate Biafra restoration adding that he believed in Judaism.
Shehu, however appealed to members of the community to disregard calls by kanu for special security to protect Christians in the country.
Reacting during Radio Biafra evening programme, Nnamdi Kanu said Judaism is the mother of all religious beliefs including Islam.
He said his aim is geared towards liberating everyone trapped, persecuted by wicked leaders against their wish.
