BREAKING: FG okays reopening of four land borders, lists restricted commodities
Nigeria is relieved as Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday authorized to immediately reopen four land borders while others will be reopened thereafter.
Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, the Minister of Finance Budget and National Planning disclosed just after a virtual Federal Executive Council meeting held today.
The commissioner similarly announced the restraint on some goods imported in the country such as rice and other products.
According to Ahmed opened borders for operation include Ilela Border in the Northwest, Seme Border in the Southwest, Mfun Border in the Southsouth, and Maigatari Border in the Northwest.
FG had announced earlier last week to engage the shut borders following glamour by Nigerians to ease the price of commodities in the market.
The country’s president, Mohammadu Buhari had in August 2019 ordered the closure of land borders with Benin in view to prevent the import of goods and checkmate internal security.
