BREAKING: Federal Government, South-West Govs ‘Agree’ on Amotekun

The Nigerian Federal Authorities and South-West governors, possibly with other stakeholders have reportedly reached settlement on Operation Amotekun.

Laolu Akande, the media aide to the Vice-President disclosed by way of his verified Twitter handle on Thursday.

Nonetheless, he didn’t give details of the agreement reached.

His tweet read: “News Flash: FG, Southwest Governors agree on Amotekun,”

It will be recalled {that a} meeting between Osinbajo and the governors of the South-West states held on the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday.

The agenda is the safety outfit, Operation Amotekun, lately launched by the states within the zone.

Mr Abubakar Malami, the minister of Justice, and the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu, additionally attended the meeting.

Earlier, Amotekun had raised controversies. The Federal Authorities had opposed it as it declared it unlawful in an announcement released via Malami’s office.

The federal government had mentioned it had a coverage on group policing, which had been accepted by the President,  Muhammadu Buhari, towards the regional Amotekun format.

Nonetheless, the governors had insisted they might not dump Amotekun and sought fairly to fulfill with the Presidency in the hope that the variations could be ironed out.
