Bandits killed over 20 persons in Sokoto villages
Tension rises in some villages in Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Wednesday as suspected armed bandits attacked at night, killed over 20 persons.
A source in thr local government disclosed that the assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons stormed the villages at night and started shooting sporadically.
“More than twenty villagers were killed while houses and other properties were destroyed.
“Many others have fled their homes to seek refuge in nearby communities within Goronyo and Isa L0ocal Government Areas of Sokoto State. The source said.
Police, however, confirmed the attack but declined to ascertain the number of casualties.
“The attack took place in Dan Tatsako village, but the number of casualties is yet to be ascertained.” the Police Public Relations Officer Sokoto State Police Command, Mohammed Abubakar Sadiq said.
