Things are beginning to turn around for the favour of the agitating Biafrans under Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as the Igbo group gives backing to continue October’s civil disobedience.
The Igbo body, Ohanaeze Ndigbo declared support for IPOB’s sit at home order to be observed on October 1st, 2020.
According to IPOB, the members both home and in the diaspora will join their counterparts, calling for the Oduduwa Republic to remain in the house as Nigeria marks its 60 years Independence Anniversary.
In a statement signed and made public by IPOB media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful on Wednesday revealed that the reason to boycott Nigeria’s Anniversary was to avert pending bloodbath to unleashed in the region by terrorist groups.
It pointed out that the group is using the opportunity to uncover to the world how disastrously intolerable human existence has turned in Nigeria, including terrorism, bad governance, and economic annihilation.
It maintained that the order is to highlight the resolve and position of Biafrans towards Nigeria’s coexistence, adding that they are “no longer part of this shambolic monument to terrorism and failure”
IPOB emphasised that Nigeria’s coexistence has long overdue and can be part of “abused independence” scheduled October 1, noting that Biafra agitators have made public their intention for full and irreversible restoration “for all oppressed ethnic groups in Nigeria”
It directed and made sacrosanct that markets, schools, and businesses be shutdown in Biafraland, and other terror ravaged areas of the Middle Belt, adding that “Wholesale slaughter of innocent Judeo-Christians and state-sponsored ethnic cleansing” will further not be allowed.
It, however, advised security agents to channel their energy to troubled areas including Sambisa forest, Katsina, Sokoto, Yobe, Borno.
In a phone call with Barr. Uche Achi Okpaga, the National Publicly Secretary to Ohanaeze, confirmed that the declaration is lawful and in support.
In his words: “If IPOB said so, we are supporting it. They are our children. We are supporting it since it is not against the law and so far as it is not a violent act. It is obtainable everywhere in the world. So, we are totally in support of it.”Scannews24.com
