Amaechi-led #EndSARS protest plan to cause mayhem in Rivers State, Wike raises alarm
The Rivers State governor, Barrister Nyesom Wike has raised s alarm of an impending danger to carried out by the former governor of the state, Chibuike Amaechi.
The governor said the transportation Minister, Amaechi has concluded a plan to led his faction of #EndSARS protesters hold rallies in the state.
In an announcement by the state Commissioner for Information and Communications
Paulinus Nsirim, Tuesday, 19 October 2020, said an intelligence report revealed that the protesters will capitalize on the End SARS demonstration to unleash destruction of lives and property in Rivers.
It noted that the protest, scheduled to hold on Wednesday with different inscriptions like “#EndSARS,” and “End Unemployment” is not part of the peaceful demonstration which the government permitted.
The statement recounts that the Amaechi has never supported efforts by the government to probe the police department, adding that he “frustrate the implementation of the report of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry that indicted SARS operatives in the State”.
Wike urged President Mohammadu Buhari to call Chibuike Amaechi to order and allow the state to remain peaceful as it has been since the beginning of the protest.
He also advised security agents and residents of the state to resist any attempt by any individual or group to make the state experience violence. Statement
