Abaribe blasts FG over extravagant spending in state hous on catering equipment, materials (watch)
The senator representing Abia North Senatorial district, Enyinnanya Abaribe has queried the reason the federal government budgeted over a hundred million to purchase new kitchen utensils and catering materials.
Responding during a deliberation on the floor of the red chamber, the PDP minority leader asked what happened to immediate past bought items.
One hundred and twenty-three million naira was among the appropriation bills for State House presented for catering equipment and materials.
The senator argued, citing that ninety-four million was already used last year for the same purpose and in the just-approved 2021 budget, the proposal for both materials and equipment reappeared.
In his words: “In the State House Budget, it says here 123 million to buy catering equipment and materials.
“I don’t know did throw away the one they did last year?
“They spent 94m last year too but catering equipment and they are coming back again to buy another catering equipment.
“What are they doing in that statehouse that they always buying equipment?
He, however, lamented on extravagant spending under some avenues including sitting allowance even the country is borrowing money to service its capital expenditures.
